Drug Addiction (II)
Drug addiction is often related to trauma. The leading causes of death in these young people are acts of violence such as homicides, suicides and accidents, especially traffic.
Chronic effects of alcohol and drug abuse include severe disorders such as cancer, cirrhosis, and respiratory disease. Both are more serious or chronic psychological disorders.
These can be divided into those that produce dependence, altered state in which the subject requires constant administration of the drug to feel good or avoid feeling bad, and the psychological maturation that stop or normal.
4. Ages greater danger
In general, if before 18-21, children have not begun to experiment with alcohol and cigarettes, and much of the illicit drugs (marijuana, cocaine, heroin, amphetamines, etc. ..), it is unlikely do so later.
With age decreases the number of young people who use banned substances. However, cocaine is a striking exception, once initiated in use, the number of teenagers and young adults who use remains high.
5. Difference between boys and girls
The proportion of children involved in illicit drug use is higher than that of girls, especially in the use frequency and intensity. Another interesting fact is that girls who use drugs, consume fewer types and less frequently than boys.
6. Relationship between the expectations of future
Generally, pre-university students who think graduating from university (or higher level), have lower rates of drug use than those who do not think so.
There is some thoughtful discussion in these replies, it makes a nice change to scan through such intelligent wording, and makes you want to engage in the debate.
