Pill to stop smoking and drinking?
It may seem surprising and even, why not?, Some “fictitious”, but the reality in this case is that several researchers are studying about the possibility that an existing pill to help smokers kick the habit , have indicated that they might work for those people who wish or have problems themselves, can also stop drinking.
The drug is called varenicline, and researchers have indicated that the implementation of the pills may be-also-much further: as a treatment for all types of addictions.
At times it is still continuing to investigate, so do not know for sure what will happen eventually.
Pill To Stop Smoking And Drinking
A single pill promises to help those who ingest it to stop smoking so satisfying as drinking, according to researchers trying to help people overcome both habits targeting a pleasure center in the brain.
The drug, called varenicline, already is promoted as an aid to help smokers kick the habit. Recent research, though preliminary, suggest that the pill could have a second utility, also help to alcoholics.
The researchers said that the implementation of the pills may even go further as a treatment for all types of addictions, from the habit of gambling to the dependence on painkillers.
But several experts not involved in the study have warned that no such thing as a magic cure for addiction and that varenicline and similar drugs can have a more immediate use for the treatment of diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Pfizer Inc. developed the drug specifically as an aid to quit smoking and has sold in the United States since August under the brand name Chantix.
