Recent research, though preliminary, suggest that the pill could have a second utility, also help to alcoholics.</p>
<p>The researchers said that the implementation of the pills may even go further as a treatment for all types of addictions, from the habit of gambling to the dependence on painkillers.</p>
<p>But several experts not involved in the study have warned that no such thing as a magic cure for addiction and that varenicline and similar drugs can have a more immediate use for the treatment of diseases such as Alzheimer&#8217;s and Parkinson&#8217;s.</p>
<p>Pfizer Inc. developed the drug specifically as an <strong><a href="http://www.deepturtle.net/category/quit-smoking-tips">aid to quit smoking</a></strong> and has sold in the United States since August under the brand name Chantix.</p>
<p><span id="more-106"></span>Varenicline works by adhering to the same brain receptors that binds to when inhaled nicotine in cigarette smoke, an action that leads to the release of hidroxitiramina in the pleasure centers of the brain. The consumption of the drug prevents any nicotine inhaled reinforce the pleasurable effect.</p>
<p>A study published Monday suggests that both nicotine and alcohol act on the same sites in the brain.
